A Perfect Day on the Lake
It was such a joy for us at Two Sweet Sparrows to plan Maddie and Dan’s Lake Toxaway Country Club wedding. The couple are truly two of the kindest and most gracious people, and everyone who worked with them felt their warmth from the very beginning.
Lake Toxaway has always been a special place for Maddie, who grew up spending summers there with her family. Returning to celebrate her wedding felt deeply personal and filled with meaning. The day brought everything you could hope for in a summer mountain celebration: bright skies, a gentle lake breeze, and the feeling of complete happiness from start to finish.
Timeless Design in Blue and White
The design embraced a classic blue and white color palette that perfectly reflected the setting. Petal and Fern created lush floral arrangements of white hydrangea, roses, and orchids paired with soft powder blue delphinium and airy greenery. The result was refined, romantic, and welcoming, perfectly complementing the elegance of Lake Toxaway Country Club.
Tables were dressed in crisp linens and accented with blue glassware, tall taper candles, and delicate china patterns that caught the light beautifully. Every detail felt thoughtful and timeless, creating a setting that invited guests to relax and enjoy the view of the water and mountains beyond.
Maddie’s Effortless Bridal Style
Maddie’s gown by Blue Willow by Anne Barge, from The White Magnolia Bridal Collection, was elegant and classic. The structured bodice and flowing skirt moved gracefully throughout the day, a perfect choice for both ceremony and dancing later that night.
She completed her look with a veil from the same designer and jewelry from Highland Diamond, who also designed the couple’s wedding bands and engagement ring. Her “something old and blue” was especially meaningful: her grandmother’s garter, a beautiful and sentimental reminder of family woven into her look.
The Celebration
As the sun set behind the mountains, guests gathered for dinner and dancing. The atmosphere was full of laughter, energy, and gratitude, a reflection of who Maddie and Dan are as people. Music by Carolina Music Planner set the tone early in the evening, and Infinite Soul Band kept the dance floor full until the last song. Every moment was filled with movement, light, and joy, captured beautifully by Amber Hatley Photography and Almond Leaf Studios.
Meaningful Personal Touches
Throughout the weekend, Maddie and Dan found ways to make their celebration uniquely personal. Maddie’s cousin, Katie McK Designs, created all of the custom paper details including invitations, cocktail napkins, koozies, matchbooks, and signage. Each design carried their soft blue palette and timeless aesthetic, tying the entire day together. The morning of the wedding was filled with calm and laughter as the team from Be Lovely Beauty got everyone ready. It was the perfect start to a day that would be remembered for its joy and ease.
A Day to Remember
Some weddings leave an impression that lasts long after the weekend ends. Maddie and Dan’s Lake Toxaway Country Club wedding was one of those days. It was a celebration of love, family, and connection, all wrapped in the beauty of a North Carolina summer. Being part of their story was an honor, and I am so grateful to have helped bring their vision to life with such a talented team of professionals.
